IF YOU WISH TO EMAIL KAREN, PLEASE WRITE TO: lewisandclarkcert at yahoo.com THANK YOU!*** Greetings Tri-County CERT! I just returned yesterday from my month-long foray overseas and am looking forward to seeing you once again at our monthly CERT training/meeting Wednesday, March 11, 1000-1200 hrs at the Lewis and Clark EOC, 221 Breckenridge, Helena. A St. Peter's Hospital representative will be present to talk about the development of the new Hospital CERT and the training opportunities that involvement will offer (including all-expenses-paid training opportunities out of state!) Additionally, we have a very interesting training set up for you: Don Bischoff, USGS, will be teaching us how to read topographical maps. Even if you already know how to navigate using them, he is an expert and you are certain to learn something new from this very entertaining instructor. The St. Patrick's Day Parade is on Saturday--do we want to "wear the green" and provide a CERT presence to the community? Let's talk about it tomorrow. Pet Rescue training in May-another training opportunity available. And, as usual, much more! Looking forward to seeing you. Karen Karen Semple Lewis and Clark County Citizen Corps Council P.O. Hi all, I was contacted by Blue Cross Blue Shield to see if we would be interested in doing an aid station again this year. They said we were one of the best groups they have ever worked with and it certainly was a fun event to be a part of. As always, T-shirts are included for all volunteers as well as meal coupons. Let me know who might be interested. Thanks, Cari Louden 443-2998 --------------------------------- Looking for last minute shopping deals? Find them fast with Yahoo! IF YOU NEED TO WRITE KAREN, PLEASE USE: lewisandclarkcert at yahoo.com** CERT Folks, We had a great class from Don Bischoff, USGS, last Wednesday at our CERT meeting. Everyone present got a free local topographical map, USGS ruler and pencil in addition to some really good info. Following the class, CERT member, Jim Hyatt, thought you might appreciate the following mapping links, so I am sending them on to you. Enjoy! Here are the links to the Montana and third party mapping info: This one will get you into the top maps and aerial photo data base. http://nris.mt.gov/topofinder2/default.asp This one has information on land ownership. http://gis.mt.gov/ The following are third party mapping providers that I am aware of, there probable are more. http://www.natgeomaps.com/topo I think you can get this one at Sportmans Warehouse http://www.delorme.com/ I have seen this one at Bob Wards in the past. Also there is google earth, that has extensive aerial photos and terraserver that has both topo and aerial photos. http://terraserver-usa.com/ These below are not quite the same sort of map, but, they are maps that give continuously updated info: A display of terrorism and other suspicious events http://www.globalincidentmap.com/home.php Bird flu incidents: http://birdflu.globalincidentmap.com/home.php Illegal Alien Activity Tracking System http://illegal.globalincidentmap.com/home.php Large Fires Incident Map http://activefiremaps.fs.fed.us/lg_fire2.php Karen Semple Lewis and Clark County Citizen Corps Council P.O.
